Take a deep breath this week and try and keep your emotions in check. 

Just as Mercury is about to turn retrograde on 6th September, Mercury forms an argumentative square with feisty Mars for the 2nd time this month on 3rd September.  Friday’s full moon in sensitive Pisces exacerbates the emotional volatility of this time.  Put your plans on hold and avoid making important decisions until you get a firm grasp on whats going on in your environment and with the people around you.

Chiron is a Planetoid that was first sighted in 1977 on its trek between Saturn and Uranus.  There are differences in opinon over the classification of this body, where some people claim it is a comet and other people claim it is astroid.  Whatever people’s opinon’s, this Planetoid’s power is widely acknowledged.

Chiron is the wounded healer.  This Planetoid is for everyone who has not given into despair and suffering and has instead, reached out to help others so they will not have to experience the pain they have felt.  It can be healing for a person to help others cope with a pain that they themselves have lived through.

This brings us to the conclusion of looking at each of the Planets, their influences and how they affect us.  Like me, you have probably seen in some horoscope forecasts that Planet’s have moved into different Houses, which will also affect us and will have an influence on us.  I am going to be looking into this further and will be explaining what each of the 12 Houses mean and how they affect us.  Once we have gone through the 12 Houses in Astrology, I will then explain all about the angles to give you even more of an in-depth knowledge of Astrology and also to help you better understand my weekly articles on ‘the stars this week’, where I summarise the Planet’s movements.

The landscape changes and the environment heats up as Mars enters emotional Cancer and Mercury enters diplomatic Libra on 25th August 2009.  They are sensitive and touchy as they immediately square each other.  Venus escapes into Leo on 26th August 2009 only to run into a quincunx of intense Pluto.  Even though she is in charge of the entertainment, everyone else is running the show as Mars reaches an opposition to powerful Pluto and Mercury square’s Pluto the same day.

Rules Scorpio and the Eighth House.

Pluto is the Planet of the unconscious, sex and death and is also associated with transformation, regeneration and rebirth.  Pluto’s energy may be subtle, however, it will hit you hard.  Pluto is all about ‘out with the old and in with the new‘ and if we’re not ready for it, this Planet will have us wallow in our misery.

All things occult and spiritual are in the domain of Pluto and it is often through the influence of this Planet and during Pluto transits that we find our very soul. 

Pluto also rules destruction, obsession, kidnapping, coercion, viruses, waste, crime and the underworld.  This Planet is all about all that is secret and undercover and knows how to push buttons.

This intense Planet takes approximately 248 years to orbit the zodiac and takes between 12 and 31 years to pass through a sign.  Pluto is the higher octave of Mars and is the last of the transcendental Planets.

Rules Pisces and the Twelfth House.

Neptune is the Planet of imagination, dreams, abstract thought, illusion and deception – particularly self deception.  Sometimes we do need to jump the track and explore fantasies or get in touch with our sensitivity, so the influence isn’t entirely negative.  Our spirituality is important to this Planet and how we harness this energy for our personal betterment.  Neptune invites us to let its energies wash over us and to use a meditative state to gain insights and awareness.  Poetry, music and dance are among the trance-like activities that this Planet favours.

Neptune does also have a showier side as it also rules movies, television, theatre, fashion and glamour.  Neptune has a mystique, which doesn’t reveal itself  easily.  It can be a poser too , dabbling in flattery and rebellion.

It takes Neptune 165 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac, spending roughly 14 years in each sign.  Neptune is feminine energy and is known as the higher octave of Venus and is the second of transcendental Planets.

Rules Aquarius and the Eleventh House.

Uranus is the Planet of change, which is often unexpected.  Some consider Uranus to be a rebel, upending the existing paradigms and norms, but progress is inevitable and Uranus won’t quit until it is achieved.  No one will ever characterise Uranus as being subtle and in keeping with its sudden, sometimes violent  and often unexpected behaviour, Uranus rules earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Originality, inventions, computers, cutting edge technologies and future events are all ruled by Uranus.  It prefers to break from tradition and create a new mould and brings with it a new way at looking at things.

Uranus takes 84 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac and is neither feminine or masculine energy.  Uranus is considered to be the higher octave of Mercury and the first of the transcendental Planets.

Rules Capricorn & Aquarius and the Tenth & Eleventh Houses.

So, continuing with the Planets and how they can influence us, it’s now the turn of Saturn.  Saturn is another big Planet like Jupiter, however, it’s influence is more about constraint and restriction.  Saturn presents us with the obstacles necessary for us to grow.  It is challenging, strict and a taskmaster and will not leave you alone until you have learnt the lessons that you need to in order to progress and find your safety and security.  Most of us find our ‘Saturn return’ around our 30th birthday, when Saturn returns to the position it was in when you were born.

Structure, order and the way in which we conduct our affairs are all ruled by Saturn.  Contraction and the reigning in of assets are also important here.  Finally, Saturn, in its role as teacher, conerns itself with Karma and the lessons which past experiences may bring up.

Saturn takes 28 – 30 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac and it is masculine energy.

There will be a New Moon in Leo on Thursday 20th August 2009 at 11.00 (GMT), but what does this mean?

At the time of this New Moon, the Sun will also be in Leo and this allignment of the Luminaires in Leo takes us into the heart of our unique experience.  It kindles passions, desires, creative ambitions and the urge to share what’s within with the world.  During the next 2 weeks or so, love will be the cosmic focus because Leo rules the heart.  If you’re attached, it’s time to initiate some sexy fun with your sweetie and if you’re solo, be open to meeting someone new and fabulous!

It’s a New Moon that encourages the pursuit of what makes your heart sing.  It’s the path that gives you the charge because you know you’re created especially for it.  Against the urgency of the times, the Leo message is to shine brightly and add your light to the whole.  Find out what your true passion is and make it part of your life.

The heightened creative energy makes it an ideal time to start an original venture or promote a project that’s ready to launch.  With the Sun as it’s ruler, Leo ignites the creative fire – romantic and otherwise – that’s inside us all.  You don’t have to be an artist to take advantage of this influence, just the desire and determination to live a more joyful and creative life.

At the time of this New Moon, the Sun/Moon conjunction opposes the Jupiter/Chiron/Neptune conjunction in Aquarius.  This is a call to each of us to use our talents as best as we are able to bring radical change in our world through a total embrace of our personal power.  Mercury and Saturn in Virgo, the healer/humanitarian, opposing Uranus in Pisces, gives us access to the mental and physical tools to raise the level of consciousness of every being so we can all resonate to the shared vision of our ultimate inseparability from each other.  This is the New Moon to redefine personal power as a means to engender communal empowerment, coexistance and upliftment; in other words, true leadership.  Leo’s most evolved form is the inspirational, full hearted teacher/learner.

Rules Sagittarius & Pisces and Ninth and Twelfth Houses.

Jupiter is all about luck, opportunity and optimism and brings gifts in the form of growth and expansion.  We all have Jupiter in our sign once every 12 years and that is the time to go for gold!  This is a kind Planet which wants us to grow and flourish in a positive way.  It’s mostly an honourable helpmate and See’s to it that we’re on the right path.

Jupiter is the thinking person’s Planet.  As the guardian of the abstract mind, this Planet rules higher learning and gives us a yen for exploring idea’s, both intellectually and spiritually.  Jupiter proposes a search for the answers and if that means spanning the globe to find them, well that’s probably why Jupiter also rules long distance travel!

Leisure time is also one of Jupiter’s pastimes.  Sport’s of all kinds, games of chance and a stroll in the park with a family pet (Jupiter loves animals) are all ruled by this Planet.  Finally, Jupiter often signifies wealth, material and otherwise.
